Intertextuality

I am finding it a bit more easier to blog now and have quite a bit to talk about intertextuality i only was there for the lecture and not for the seminar but, i found out plenty in the lecture and with my own work.
First i found it interesting that the same lines had been used in others films, i knew of this already but i found out even more. In the lecture we watched short parts from films that were connected through intertextuality e.g planet of the apes original- planet of the apes the remake and finally with madagascar which had the words from the original planet of the apes which is" damn you, damn them all to hell" except in madagascar where it says" darn you, darn them all to heck" they have changed this as it is a family film and they are also using intertexuality to remind the audience that they are taking the words from another film and turning it into a joke to make us laugh.

But intertextuality is all around us as everythingreminds us of something else and now i would like to talk about a bit of intertextuality i found whilst looking through empire magazine.
When i was looking through the magazine i found a piece about Mark Hamill who plays luke skywalker in the original star wars films and remembered other things that he was in whilst still having something about star wars in it (intertextuality) e.g Mark was in the simpsons, family guy and others using the character of luke skywalker as it reminds us of star wars so this is good intertextuality that has been used by the shows.

But to get on the subject of my course path which is model, we were shown an image of alien in the lecture and also a image of a sculpture that had reminded ivan of the alien creature (intertextuality) because of the head shape and the body. This then reminded me that if i was watching creature comforts or saw it advertised the models of the animals would remind me of wallace and gromit creators aardman, This also reminded me of morph which i thought had nothing to do with aardman but then looked on there website and saw that morph is one of the characters they have created. This is intertextuality as i have been looking at a model of an animal and have then reconized from the shapes and the materials used in the models of the animals that it made me think of wallace and gromit which i knew already was part of aardman but also of morph who i did not know was part of the aardman company.
This really interested me as i found out something through intertextuality and now when i see shaun the sheep which also reminds me of when he was in one of the earlier wallace and gromit stories (a close shave) that also i will be reminded of other work by the aardman company and this will happen as i have realised the same shapes and materials in the models and have thought about the other models they have made using intertextuality.

Reading the signs

This was quite interesting to learn about, as you can have different ways of describing models and other thinngs.
In the seminar we looked at teapots which, i looked at a turtle teapot and we had to say what was the denotation which it was a teapot in a shape of a turtle and then we did panadagms or conotation of the teapot saying that this would not be good at a funeral but may suit a childrens party and that it was a collectable etc; we then did the same with a picture of a doll.
In the lecture we got showed pictures and had to say which ones were the denotation and which ones were myth and conotation.
In all i have found this to be a good way of describing how to put something across and describe it in a better and more professional way.

Can you tell what it is yet?

I was not here for this lecture,
but i have looked at the slides from the lecture and have noticed how much we have changed the way we now look at things for example, you take the old cave paintings from the cavemen which show they had limited knowledge on materals and worked with only what they had used before, Then you get todays work which we are going to see films in 3D, paintings that are so realistic you could get lost in them and we have a whole range of materials too, which has started from the cave men and we have learn't about since and experienced new ways.So thats what i basically picked up from the slides that were shown.
This word realism has grown over time to me as we are getting more and more realistic and in the chosen area i am studying means that people will be expecting more and more in the future for the wow factor for when they are looking at stuff designers have made.
